Have you heard about http://www.muttr.com? It has exploded onto the scene out of no where... Muttr allows the user to speak freely and say whatever is on their mind, anonymously, and it feels great doing so!

Muttr is straight to the point, simple, eye pleasing, and extremely easy to use. It will remain my choice for quite some time now! Trust me, there's plenty of things I will always need to just vent about lol.

The hook up might be the contemporary version of the sexual revolution that happened a few decades ago. Todays individuals are needlessly stressed over work, school, family, friends etc. that a no strings relationship (be it strictly physical or other) seems like the perfect escape. But escapism is a dangerous mantra as reality has a funny way of catching up with you (see: the morning after your tequila shots). The Sex & The City women's empowerment movement has also, perhaps marginally, contributed to this phenomenon. Whether it is positive or negative is perhaps yet to be determined. You made some very interesting points!

fmylife is a new addition to my life but one of the many websites I checked as soon as open my internet browser. I am not sure I agree that people are wallowing in self pity on this. Its more of a "well I guess some people have bigger problems than me" deal. I read it out of pure enjoyment and find it a nice little distraction. It is however and interesting phenomenon that seems to have garnered serious web traffic almost overnight.

I agree with you that texting is a problem for people who are kind of into the old fashioned way of face to face communication. I walk into an elevator or down the street and instead of someone saying "Hi", or smiling, they start texting madly on their phone while its obvious that they noticed me and are actively paying attention to my presence, and its not just me, Ive noticed other people in the same situation. Texting is distrating but I dont think its really rude necessarily, there should be a book about text etiquitte!

at the risk of sounding middle-aged, i think txt mssg is just laziness. i text when i don't feel like talking to someone but still need to know something. having people text message me all the time is quite distracting as well, and it prevents me from focusing 100% on what's infront of me (whether it's people or class etc).
